gallery Catholic Charities: 40 Cans for Lent Food Drive

Catholic Charities is once again leading a 40 Cans for Lent Food Drive. 40 Cans for Lent is an effort to fight hunger and raise awareness of food insecurity in our community. During the 40 Days of Lent, participants are asked to collect one canned good each day, starting Ash Wednesday (2/10) and ending on Easter Sunday (3/27), in solidarity with those who may not know where their next meal may come from. This food drive is also in remembrance of the 40 days and nights that Christ spent in the desert, without food or water, preparing for his sacrifice on behalf of mankind. The cans and non-perishable items collected will be a special way to support Catholic Charities’ mission of providing for the needs of the community through selfless service under the sign of love. Donations may be dropped off at the Guadalupe Community Center (1801 W. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd., 78207) or Catholic Charities’ Main Offices (202 W. French Pl., 78212). Organizations and churches can also request more information about donation bin drop-off and pick-up by contacting Lizzy Nemeth at 210-226-6178 or lnemeth@ccaosa.org.
